Type of review

I use my Tormek to sharpen small knives and this Blackstone seems to cut stainless steel a bit faster than regular stone and doesn't seem to be sharpened as often as regular stone. However, I see a lot of rocks in the water bowl and it seems like the rock won't last longer than regular rock. When sharpening the heels of knives that have already been resharpened, Blackstone cuts heavy heels and minute gouges in the stone with ease. It seems to take less time to craft a few knives with Blackstone

Big improvement for HSS tools

Tormek I have had one since 2006 and have always used the standard 'grey' stone, although I mostly use HSS tools. As promised, this black stone makes a big difference as it sharpens the HSS a little faster than a standard stone. Also, the stone seems to wear down better, less prone to the "grooves" that form when sharpening turning bits with the SVD-185 tube. Great stone! in Hand Tools

So my first Blackstone had a large chip due to shipping so I had to send it back and order a replacement. After I installed it on my T-8, it sucked up just as much water as the original rock. So keep that in mind and keep an eye on the water level when you first use it. It worked just right without hesitation, and was perfectly round too. Compared to the original stone that came with the machine, it works much faster and leaves a very thin edge on the blade that requires minimal sharpening. I…
