I really wanted to love these knives. I really did. They were beautifully packaged and looked amazing. They were very sharp right out of the box and I was very proud of my new set of kitchen knives. They were so sharp that I cut myself the first day I tried to cut tomatoes without a chopping board. But things weren't meant to stay that way. In the evening on a dry cloth towel. On the second day I noticed a small mark on one of the two knives we used but I thought it was a manufacturing defect left over from overheating theft during sharpening so I didn't pay much attention to it. Imagine my surprise when that dark spot turned rusty on the fourth day. I thought they were quality theft knives, how can they rust so quickly? I tried scrubbing the rust off with a kitchen sponge but it wouldn't budge, so I turned the stake knives and put those two knives in last and put a few other unused ones in their place. A few days later there were rust spots on the new knives too. So I swapped out a new set of knives to hide the problems from my wife, hoping the last two knives wouldn't rust. Well, it didn't work out as planned. About 10 days after purchase, my wife noticed the stains on the knives and examined them all, asking why half the knives were rusty and explaining that it was unhealthy. Our 20-year-old Chinese Henckels knives, which we bought from Costco for about $70, have never rusted. But these $400+ Cangshan knives couldn't last two weeks. I suspect I received a counterfeit product as the initial spiciness was already gone (two weeks later) and I even had trouble cutting my kids' melted chicken dinner. I am attaching some close-up photos of three stake knives that have developed rust after a few days of use. We will be sending them back as we are dissatisfied with the purchase. For the money I expect better product quality and/or better source verification to avoid the chances of receiving a counterfeit product.
