Review on High-Performance Cobra HH 38 WX ST: 4-Watt 40-Channel CB Radio with Enhanced Range by Bobby Martinez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Better than the one I bought at Radio Shack

Bought this in 2003 to commute between my work town and hometown 2 Hours drive on I-40 through Arkansas, much highway portion. I picked up the truckers far enough ahead, 3-5 miles, that I could hear the conversation while the cops were moving. That has saved me many times. This radio picks up weather bands very well. I later bought a replacement radio from Radio Shack that absolutely sucked. Weather groups are unlikely to ever catch up, which is why I missed this radio. As late as 2012 I installed a full size CB in my SUV and there is almost no air travel. The problem with using CB radio these days for driving alerts is that all truckers are now using cell phones and rarely speak CB, it's as quiet as it used to be. So unless you're using this to communicate with another vehicle in a group on a trip, it's practically useless. KB is already history in my opinion. Marine/UHF radio is better these days for comms or those GNRS radios some of which can talk up to 25 miles on a good day. already history.
