This just does not work that well. They appear well constructed but for my first application with solid-core 12 AWG electrical wire with stiff insulation it just does not strip reliably. The two failure modes are basically cutting the insulation at the grippers instead of the cutter or not gripping it sufficiently well and it doesn't cut the insulation at all. Adjusting the tension, cause one or the other failure mode to be more prevalent. Occasionally it strips it correctly.I suspect this works better for softer insulation but wasn't the primary reason I bought it. I'm annoyed that I did not test this out soon enough to return it. Thankfully it wasn't terribly expensive. Either spend more for a better one or pass.
