I needed a 1TB 2.5" SATA hard drive. This hard drive replaces an old WD 320 GB hard drive with 7200 rpm and 16 MB cache. Speed is very important to me. I'm transferring a lot of pictures and large files and I need to do it quickly. This hard drive has a speed of 5400 RPM and only 8MB of cache, so I doubted it could run as fast as my old hard drive. Given WD's good reputation and my pleasant past experience with the brand, I wanted to try this drive and I'm glad I did. I installed this hard drive in my Universal Dock on my Lenovo W500 laptop and tried to copy gigabytes of data from my local hard drive to this hard drive. I got a whopping 35MB per second transfer speed, which surpassed my previous record with the old hard drive. So it's a thumbs up from me. If you need a fast hard drive, go for it. In addition, the price is very reasonable. In the past I have bought my hard drives from Revain. They seem to have the lowest prices and the best return policy on every purchase.
