The metal case of the drive appears to be made of durable tinfoil. It arrived already dented but I tried installing it anyway to see if the dent would affect function. Inserting it into the computer caused more damage, and in fact the dent degraded the drive's ability to spin with the CD inside. I tried partially disassembling it to bend it back into shape. It was easy to bend, but not easy to keep in shape. At this point there is more damage being dealt by my attempt to use it, so I'll just throw it in the trash where it should be instead of returning it. I bought another brand to replace and it has a heavier body and works great.
