Easy install and quiet operation, no more tick tock

We wanted to change the noisy tick tock of our kitchen clocks and this kit came very close to the size of the original hands etc. The clock/lamp repair in the shop called for 60 US dollars for a replacement. I got this kit for less than $10 and they replaced it in less than 10 minutes. Now that I've done it, I was able to do it in less than 4 minutes. It was actually very easy to remove and replace with the old box, hands and mechanism. The prop hub main post was too long so I used a thin nut from an old mechanism and screwed it in first so the post doesn't stick out all the way and I didn't use my other hand (a hand that's constantly moving while counting seconds will). Everything was quick and easy to install (I'd never worked or changed the movement, it was too easy) and now our clock is quiet, no more tick-tock. Accuracy seems good - it's been about 3 weeks and it's still up, but we'll see in 3 months if it loses/wins at some point, but so far so good. If you're in doubt because you're not, I've never done this before, give it a try as it's quite simple. A good set if you want to get rid of the loud tic-tac from your wall clock.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Disappear
