I had a habit of unplugging from the outlet and then plugging it back in only when needed, well, one night I forgot. Luckily the smoke detector worked properly and I was able to reach it quickly. ***Bought to mount behind my monitors so it can span over them and light up my workspace. Has worked flawlessly up until then. Now the switch refuses to change brightness, color, turn on or off. It didn't happen in a few days or weeks, it just stopped. Other than that it's well built, doesn't feel flimsy or cheap, it's just a switch. The biggest disadvantage in my opinion is that the switch is mounted in the middle of the line. To use it, the lamp cord needs to come out of the base and go halfway through the table so you can operate it, and then back to the wall transformer. . Simply put, the switch is in the wrong place and the cord is getting too short to use. I like it but I think I'll try something different and not another one of these. Also keep in mind that there are several of these with different brand names so I will be looking for a different style hoping to get other components.
