I bought it because I needed a long leash for a multi-day car trip across the country with a cat and a large (100 kg) dog. My previous long leash was a simple, flat-braided nylon that was torn and frayed in many places and tied with a few knots. I just didn't think he would hold back if one or the other animal decided to run after him in earnest. After that trip I use it to tie the same dog and cat outside while they roam the garden. I went with this one because it looked a little more stable than my previous one, and it is. While still flat and not very heavy, it's sturdy and I haven't seen the same wear and tear dragging it around the garden as the previous leash. In fact, I don't think I've noticed any wear or tear so far. I've only used it a few times on walks or outside the yard but it seems to do well there too. The bright fluorescent strip in the middle is also a nice extra, as you can immediately see where the leash is threaded if one or the other animal clings. have done this several times on previous lines).
