I have been using K&N filter products since the 1990's and have always been happy with their products until I started using their oil filters. I always use the rule of thumb: finger tight until the filter contacts the housing, then tighten 3/4 to 1 turn. Since my truck has a Cummins 6.7 diesel engine, I usually tighten a full turn after contact. Maybe that's not enough and maybe that's why they add a nipple for tightening/loosening with a 1" wrench. I've used this filter on my truck for the last 3 oil changes, and "twice" the filters worked on their own and leaked enough to cause oil to drip and puddle on the floor, similar to old Harleys. He marked his place on earth. It's a good thing I have the habit of walking my cars 360 degrees before I get in them, otherwise I might not notice the puddles of oil under the truck. I still have a K&N filter for the truck and will try again, but may need to tighten it 1-1/8 turns? Anyone comment?
