After installing and returning two other consumer brand IP security cameras due to the complexity or unreliability of the installation, I was immediately amazed by the ease of installation and operation of this system. A separate NVR box with automatic pairing and a set of easy-to-read installation and user guides make it easy to use. Extra kudos for linking to the PDF versions of these guides right on the Revain listing page so I can get a sense of how well written and illustrated they are in advance. I've had the cameras up and running for almost a week now and they continue to work flawlessly (note: I've experienced a loss of connection to the camera but thought I might need to better align one of the NVR antennas with the missing camera). and it reconnected and has been working fine ever since.) Tips: 1. The NVR uses the 2.4GHz band of your main internet router to stream images to your PC/Mac and/or smartphone's wireless connection. Older routers may only have 300Mbps throughput; while the 2.4GHz band of even more modern routers is around 600Mbps. Since every camera sends video at 25fps, this can quickly clog your 2.4GHz band if it's also used for web streaming. If possible, it would be better to buy a newer dual-band router and use its 5GHz band for internet use. (Notes: a. Video connected to a video monitor via a VGA or HDMI port does not use the Internet's basebandwidth, b. If you are not displaying images on a PC/Mac or smartphone, the system is not using the Basic bandwidth Internet bandwidth. .)2. As it is primarily a surveillance system, it is also a good idea to purchase a home security system (like SimpliSafe etc.) to better alert you and the authorities to a burglary. Since the security system records the date and time of the hack, it also becomes easier to view the recorded camera data from the hard drive.3. If you pair the first camera inside and next to an NVR that is also connected to your home internet router, and then install and test the smartphone app, outdoor installation and camera coverage leveling becomes much easier as you can open the camera coverage can see on the screen. View the smartphone and make adjustments at this time. Caveat: While I don't expect any future problems, I've only connected 2 of the 4 cameras as far as they cover the entrances to my main house. Over time I plan to add at least one more camera to the system.
