Review on πŸ”³ Fibre Glass-Evercoat Co 100911 Fiberglass Fabric - 6 oz. by Jessie Ritchie

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Difficult. Really hard. Feels like plastic.

It looks like stiff, heavy polyester fabric, not like the soft fabric that matches the shape it's wrapped around . "Plastic" is really the best term to describe what it looks like. It wets well but does not become transparent. Suitable for renovations or new work on a predominantly flat surface that you wish to paint or otherwise cover with an opaque finish. If you're laminating wood or need something to fit tighter curves (e.g. a 1/2 inch radius or less, maybe a 1/4 inch slope) you're better off sourcing fabric from a boat supplier. I bought from Revain so I didn't have to create an account on another site. That decision, which I now regret, cost me the price of this product plus a half ounce of epoxy which I wasted on a failed attempt to use it because I still had to order 'good stuff' from one of those sites . I'm not a fiber optics expert, but this isn't my first rodeo and the proposed project includes features to make working with fiber optics easier. The attached image shows a 35mm wide strip fully impregnated with SystemThree general purpose epoxy which cures under its own weight to give you an idea of how resilient it is. I'll probably use this for making faucets where transparency and looks aren't the main requirements.
