Review on Prevue Pet Products Laddered Platform by Todd Winter

DANGER! DO NOT BUY! This great looking shelf almost caused the death of one of my whales. I have several parrots who enjoy nibbling on this shelf. I thought about this a lot until one morning I saw blood on the underside of one of my birds near its opening and some black (bloody) bird droppings. The vet noted that her abdominal area was swollen (but it had nothing to do with the egg as initially thought...there was no egg). The vet gave her an injection of anti-inflammatory medication to reduce swelling in her abdomen. The next day, a "drop" came out, like a large black watermelon seed. Absolutely not normal for this bird. The only logical conclusion is that the baby chewed so much wood that the debris became lodged in her tract, causing gas and internal bleeding. I removed the shelf of course and thanks to the anti-inflammatory the swelling went down and she was able to clear the debris. No possible reason for that other than eating this shelf. The bird now appears to have fully recovered. Please don't endanger your birds by putting this shelf in their cage!
