I often work with wood that has been sawn for about a year and I live in a very humid environment. The combination of these things definitely requires that I use a moisture meter for my woodworking projects. This particular moisture meter is actually a pretty good deal considering the price. Yes, there are pros and cons, but I think the pros and cons far outweigh the cons here. Advantages: 1. Price - The price of this moisture meter is a real bestseller here. Scanning (without a pin) - Maybe it's just me, but I don't like using counters with pins. Yes, this gauge has pins if that method is desired, but it's much easier and faster for me to scan the parts I'm working with.3. Multiple Material Choices - The counter allows you to choose from 4 different material types (softwood, hardwood, masonry, drywall). To be honest I only used a hardwood rig here as I mainly work with hardwood material.4. Ease of Use - The tool itself is easy to use, with large buttons and an easy-to-read screen. Disadvantages: 1. The impossibility of further refinement of the choice of material - I used other counters that allow you to choose the type of material. For example, black walnut and white oak differ greatly in density. These two materials are hardwoods, but they give different results with a meter.2. The readings tend to be a bit high compared to other gauges I've used - this may be due to not choosing the right cleaning material. Summary: I think this moisture meter is a good tool for woodworking. It won't be as accurate as the more expensive hundred-dollar counters, but that's in the nature of the minimal choice of materials. It gets the job done and works great, especially when you can compare the results to a piece you know is dry. If the end goal is to find moisture behind the wall, no complaints here. However, I use it for woodworking, so I had to compare my results with already dried hardwood. I will buy again, yes. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, I would advise you to do the same.
