Review on Clover Circular 24 Inch Knitting Needles Knitting & Crochet by Lori Aguirre

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Hard cable

I bought these needles because I wanted to try circular knitting without spending a lot of money. I think they are good for beginners, but probably no one will like them. The connections between the cable and the grommets are fairly smooth and strong, and I haven't had any snagging issues. The tips are well made, not warped or chipped, but the finish is very grippy. Bamboo needles tend to have higher friction than metal needles, but they have even higher friction than other bamboo needles I've tried (like Crystal Palace DPNs). This makes knitting with them more labor intensive than knitting needles with a more polished finish. With these needles I have to stop very often to slide the stitches along the needles, while with my Addi Turbos the stitches slide much more by themselves. This level of friction can be beneficial for beginners as they are much less likely to lose a stitch, but more experienced knitters will likely prefer something that isn't as exciting. Clover also makes a set of replacement circular knitting needles but they have the same finish as these needles and as such I would not recommend this set as I have a feeling the knitter will quickly outgrow them with experience. A few of these cheaper fixed circular tools can be good for training but I think it would be better to invest in a set with a smoother finish as they will fit your hands easier in the long run.
