I purchased these as surgical sponges for some minor cleaning. I have never seen a thinner "surgical" sponge in my life. I have a piece of cheese cloth that has a higher thread count. You can't just take 1 out of the package. You almost always get a few more than you bargained for. These "sponges" tend to disintegrate even performing light cleaning activities. When you are done you have to go back and pick out small pieces of threads. If you stack them multiple layers thick they do seem to work a little better. Didn't expect miracles when I bought these and I wasn't let down.
