Good hand freedom for little swimmers

My 1.5 year old is a little fish and loves to swim. We ordered him sweaters, which I really like, but my son started refusing to wear them. I was looking for something that still offered buoyancy support but also a little more freedom in the hands, which seemed to interest him. This vest isn't as thick as a regular life jacket so still gives him plenty of freedom on his stomach and back to turn around and swim easily but also allows his face to go underwater which I'm all for, like him it needs to understand that his body should ultimately keep him afloat. I have to deduct a few stars because my son can unbutton his vest by himself. The guy is too daring and would rather just swim freely, and unfortunately opening up in the pool is very easy for him. It's absolutely necessary to always be there for your child until they're old enough and fully independent, but it's a little more disconcerting than a puddle jumper firmly snapping in the back and not being able to pull it off.

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Damaged
