Review on πŸ” Black Leica Ultravid BR 10x25 Robust Waterproof Compact Binocular with AquaDura Lens Coating, Model 40253 by Justin Ellingson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Probably the best 10x25 compact binoculars - you (should) pay more for near-pristine higher quality

Probably the best 10x25 compact binoculars - but with some compromises This model was tested against Trinovid 10x25 and Swarosvki CL 10x25 - it was easy to put the Trinos aside as it was immediately noticeable that they had less sharpness and muted colors. They were lighter and seemed a bit thin. It was different with Swarovski - very sharp, with good contrast, but they're 4 ounces heavier, a bit thicker, and I don't like the diopter adjustment dial. OTOH, the eyecups are better designed and the body, rain cover and strap are better than Leica. So why Leica Ultravid? Weight, overall size and better handling. Visually I can hardly see a difference. Ultravid has a more pleasing blur in my opinion. They supply a range of eye pads that Swaros don't have. Both models are supplied without a front lens cap. The Leica strap is pretty flimsy and I'm not sure how well it will hold up in the field, so it probably needs an upgrade. I wish they would offer lens caps. Overall superb looks and finish - you (should) pay more to get near-pristine quality
