Review on Speed-Adjustable Reamer by Drill America by Edward Perez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A: 15/32 " - 17/32 " nut was too thin

Item seemed to work well, but after one pass over .500 hole expansion to about .520, the adjustment nut cracked when I pushed on it. The wall thickness must not be more than 0.010! Unfortunately, I think many of these articles might have a similar problem. Use them as thin precision tools and they can still break. In addition, they appear to be well designed and designed to perform well. I want them to work as well as they are rated. I expect the replacement to be no better, but I have no choice! Next time I'll take a closer look. Oh, by the way, I hand bored the hole with a drill press to run the reamer in 3/4" maple, so I wasn't expecting or putting any serious effort into the part. It was so out of round I don't think so that you could use it in metal and get what you want, which is a square hole within 0.002.

Pros
  • Straight flute tools allow chips to accumulate in the flutes when cutting and is good for most flat cut applications
Cons
  • Expensive
