Hammy (I know the original) loves his coconut. I received the Hammy on January 21st and have tasted 2 coconuts so far. When she's not walking around the aquarium, she's in a coconut. The only annoying thing is that Hammy likes to pee in his coconut so it stinks. That's to be expected because it absorbs her urine and there's nothing I can do about it other than replace the coconut. I have no real problem with that as she loves her coconut and they are well built for her. It's very strong, but it also doesn't chew, so I'm not sure how it will stand up to chewing. hammie is a dwarf hamster about half the size of the palm of my hand. this is the perfect size for her, it has a little more space but is cozy for her. I wouldn't recommend it for hamsters bigger than the palm of your hand.
