We used it for a costume party and it didn't work for our pop art face paint. I liked that the shape of the brushes allows for fine lines to be drawn, but I wish there was a sponge included to cover the entire face. The paint was so absorbent it looked like flat, shimmering beach sand. Every time we dipped the paint in water to get the color, it dipped in the paint but didn't produce any bright color unless you put a lot of water on it with a brush and stirred quickly, but then soaked like sand. You could see it disappear and you had to keep dipping your brush into the water to get paint fast enough to make an impact. Even then, most of the colors were muted unless there were a lot of layers being applied, and that's when trying to rush the color in before it got too bulky. As if it would dry out as soon as the water got in. This was particularly noticeable with true red, white and royal blue, which we used most often. Eventually, after we decided the pop art result wasn't dark enough, I changed the painting idea and created a "bruise" for a different look. The bruise was perfect because it was so soft after I mixed red, blue and some black on my makeup sponge I already had! However, due to the fact that we had to change our ideas, we got to the party very late, which was a disappointment. Interestingly, the black lines could appear dark, but they were incredibly difficult to remove. Soap, towels, even oil were used several times. My daughter circled her eyes, nose and lips in black and it was still visible the next day. She was so embarrassed going to church like that! Ha. The paint can be difficult to remove but is advertised as easily washable. We have not had this experience. Maybe we just got a bad color, but it didn't look like any other face paint we've used before.
