This is one of my favorite lip balms of all time. I don't wear lipstick at all because my lips are flaky for some reason, regardless of brand or quality. I never liked the texture or feel of lipstick. Black Cherry Lip Balm adds just enough color and shine to give you a fresh, dewy look that's every bit as good as any high-end brand's expensive lip gloss. My lips have never flaked off with it and I never want to be without it again. Bottom line, this works for me and everyone is different, it's a matter of trial and error to find the right product. The texture is something between a hygienic lipstick and a lip gloss. It's not waxy, but it's not sticky either.
