The bottom of the frame is too thick

I waited too long so I can't return these license plate frames and I really like them so I will use them but The bottom of the frame is wide enough to hide expiration marks on license plates. They are great for decoration but not for mounting on a car. Either the bottom must be the same width as the top, or there must be cutouts in the bottom corners to be legal (at least in Oregon).
