I was hoping to get a spring compressor that seemed a little more secure than a traditional screw and hanger, it actually ticks all the boxes. sprung springs (where the spacing between coils is small) is problematic. Springs with a few widely spaced coils are also a problem as they are not actually connected to the spring cylinder or seat and under these circumstances their compression capacity is limited. This is fine in areas where this works, but tends to result in a compressed spring on one side and less compressed on the other, making the strut post installation more cumbersome than necessary. All in all, don't waste your time or money on this compressor, a regular pair of screw and hook compressors (acme threaded) is much more functional. This is a quality tool but very limited in its application. If you have a specific application where this works, this can be a very good tool. But for many automotive applications (Honda, Subaru, BMW were the three I tried) it can be made to work well on certain ends of each car but not all springs on one of them.
