Review on πŸ“Ί Slingbox 350 by Sling Media (Legacy Edition) by Justin Coatsworth

So far it has always been good.

You must have read the complaints here about the new ads being choked down your throat. I'm probably one of the few people who don't mind ads in free content. If I'm watching a Youtube video and there's an ad in front of each one, well, it doesn't matter - I'm watching free content and it's a 30 second ad at most. But Slingbox isn't free. Not even close. Even for that old model, you're paying over $100 for hardware, $15 for a mobile app, and you STILL need to see ads? This is absolutely ridiculous. And the good news is, the scooping doesn't even end here! I recently had to install a new plugin for Slingbox in Google Chrome. Well, the plugin doesn't work. It doesn't connect to my Slingbox, although I can still access it through the mobile app (so it's not an issue with my Slingbox). I went to the Slingbox website to see if I could speak to someone about this issue and lo and behold - since I bought my Slingbox over a year ago I've been charged $30 for the great privilege of having speaking to someone at Sling Media about how to fix the issue they are responsible for. Two stars because it's nice when it works to be able to watch baseball when I'm not at home. But after this stopped working for some reason (plugins not working, apps not working, OS no longer supported) I have absolutely no chance to deal with this company again.

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • Speed
