Like some of the other reviewers, I thought that one of the 'legs' could not be attached (due to the poor design). With a bit of fiddling, however, I was finally able to insert the bolt. The product is not too unstable on hard floors and works great on carpet/rug. The problem with my item is that there are ridges on the sides which indicate poor construction. Instead, the areas should be smooth. I have a feeling the fabric can tear easily and as another reviewer said the black fabric tears if you view it from the side as it is less thick than the paper. I'm considering returning it as it's never been used as a footstool, but there is a cost to return it. Very annoying - not recommended unless you plan to corner and never use it.
