First off, I've been using the GH range since the GH2 days. Of course, when the 5 Series lens was announced, I already had an idea of what I was going to get with the proven Metabones and 18-35 Sigma combo, and it absolutely fits. However, there is something special about this lens that puts it in a league of its own. I'm not even sure if other Noctons share this distinctive quality, and I'm not just talking creamy, soft skin tones, but sharp, angular attention to detail (although, it should be noted, I never go below f2 - it unless I really, really don't, and for some wedding sparklers I had to, even with the right lighting. And somehow I get enough crisp frames to pull through. Your mileage may vary.) There's some dip in the highlight areas (and additional Durability in the highlights, not the same as making your video look like a raw photo, but I still feel like more can be brought back, definitely than with Sigma) and cinematic color reproduction, which I think you just can't match any other lens whether adapted or not. Zeiss lenses might be the best fit, old-school lenses, but still. Not to mention it's as sharp as a Sigma or corner-to-corner crystal clear like a Canon L. But it just feels different. Special. A lot of people say this lens has "character" but they use it as an excuse to say it's soft. It certainly can be, and it can be very poignant. If you're the type of videographer/photographer who keeps your lenses on the smallest aperture possible just because you think that's the maximum dollar value, this lens isn't for you. If you understand that different lenses create different looks, this lens might be for you. I certainly wouldn't do a music video with him if it wasn't R&B music or softer music or something that calls for those tones. I tried it for a street rap video and laughed at myself, it just didn't work and the Sigmas got pulled from the bank. But if you are into weddings then, I will tell you, it is difficult for you to find anything better. All of course in my opinion.
