Review on Fit System 88268 Replacement Backing by Corey Vaz

I just installed this mirror. I watched a few videos on YouTube, they were useful. In my particular situation, I replaced the driver's side mirror on a 2016 Honda CRV. I struggled for about 5 minutes to install this replacement mirror. I was concerned that I had bought the wrong mirror, or that there might be slight size differences between this mirror and the original pieces. As I kept trying to install this mirror, I decided to remove the thick, black, rectangular, resinous adhesive that was originally applied when the car was built. That helped a lot. The glue was very sticky which made assembly difficult as the replacement mirror wanted to stick to it all the time making it difficult to adjust the position. The thickness of the adhesive also apparently prevented the prongs from snapping into place on the underside of the replacement mirror. After removing as much glue as I could and removing any remaining adhesive film left over from removing the glue, the mirror mounted/snapped with ease. Once the mirror snapped into place, I checked the mirror's fit by checking the power adjustment switch in the car. It worked but not 100% perfect, the mirror sometimes scratches the case/surface around it but it doesn't, much more often than it does and I'm fine with that. If you are a perfectionist who wants everything to be perfect, this mirror is not for you. Again, this is not OEM and will not function as an OEM. Similarly, this replacement mirror does not have a curved/broken portion to the "outside" of the mirror that the original mirror had. Neither was important to me as I try to save as much money as possible wherever I can. The purpose of this purchase was so I didn't have to pay what were perceived as outrageous OEM and professional service/installation prices.
