Review on ๐Ÿšต SOLODRIVE Mountain Bike Flat Pedals: Lightweight and Wide Platform, Low-Profile Aluminum Alloy Bicycle Pedals by Michael Richardson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I really wanted to like her. But. Can't

These are great looking pedals. The blue color matches the Fox suspension adjustment knobs. Processing looks good. So I really wanted to like her. But I'll be back. Here's the breakdown.1. They're pretty light. Slim. The overall quality seems very good.2. When new, the pedal fits snugly against the spindle. Probably due to fresh viscous fat. After a few km3 it should get better. I took it apart to see what's inside. Nut at the end of the spindle 5/16. And regular sockets don't fit in the pedal, but some of the universal screwdrivers that z the pedal apart do. This is not a problem.4. After dismantling: - The pedal rotates on the axle with the help of a plastic sleeve. Without radial bearing. The only bearing that's inside is an axle bush (google radial and axial forces). It seems pointless to me. Most pedal forces are radial forces. From the pressure of the feet on the pedal and the stepping of the pedal on the spindle. through a plastic cover. There are axial forces, but they are not as great as the radial ones. And this camp is not sealed. There is a pedal, but I don't think very much. To allow water to pass through its seals and get into this tiny bearing.5. Most pins are M3x8mm socket head screws. They are easy to find and replace (google). And the pedals come with several replacement bolts for these bolts. The four pins closest to the spindle are hex head screws. They may be harder to find. My source has socket head screws, M3 up to 6mm. But I think I want at least 8.6. Finally. Feeling. I put them on my bike. On a rainy afternoon. Dress my 510 freeride pros. And also. Spring. I can feel the thicker part of the pedal that the spindle goes through. The shape appears convex rather than flat. And I feel like my leg is not fixed very securely there. It's not bad. But I compare them to One Up Composite and RaceFace Chesters. I think both have a bit more grip. Again. The difference is very small. But I felt it. Total score. 3 stars. I would put 3.5. Because they are beautiful. And well made. But I prefer the feel of concave pedals. Some of my imperfections could be fixed with M3x10mm screws on the front and back of the pedals, which would give them a more concave shape and feel. Likewise. Same axle bearing. Kind of strange... Although I understand. It's incredibly difficult to design thin pedals with all the features. But probably. In any case. For the price they are worth it. If you are a moderate driver it doesn't make much of a difference. I ride about 3,000 single trails a year. make drops. jumping and so on. I only want the best from my pedals.
