I have purchased this item 3 times. In each case, one or more screws (out of a pack of 10) sheared off when I screwed them into pre-drilled holes in the wood studs/bolts with just a hand-held socket wrench. Maybe my holes aren't wide enough? However, the displacement occurs unevenly despite the width of the hole. In other words, some screws will shear off in a hole of a certain width while others won't. On my most recent purchase of 10 screws, 5 out of 6 sheared off before they were fully seated. I gave up after that. All of this was in a specific package. Perhaps the wood on this old beam is particularly hard/dense? I'm assuming these bolts will fit modern 2x4 rims that aren't as tight as in that old house.
