You plug it in and NOTHING, you just have to assume it works. There are no ads to let you know that your device is charging or that the device is on. I tested the charger on a test meter to see what levels the charger operates at. On my MacBook Pro it does NOT work better or at a faster charge rate than the standard charger, but it still holds up even with the standard charger in terms of charging performance. I returned the first device I bought because the top USB-C connector appeared flat and anything that was plugged in could pop out easily, but the replacement was identical. There aren't any drop-out plugs yet, but you don't feel "safe" plugging them into either of the top two ports. Otherwise, it loads normally on all ports.
