Review on TECLAST M40 Tablet Android Octa Core by Leandro Gray

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good tablet with a bug

I bought this tablet at a fantastic price from a popular Chinese store during one of their Singles Day sales and I want to share my experience. First of all I think you get amazing value for money here, comparable to an upper mid-range tablet from any of the well known brands. No other well-known manufacturer currently offers 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage like the M40 at this price. Its processor is also pretty good compared to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e in the tests I ran. Compared to the similar Chuwi Hipad X, the M40 is significantly better. I previously reviewed the Chuwi tablet here on Revain if you'd like to read my impressions of this tablet. The M40 outperforms the Hipad X in terms of speaker quality, processor speed, and camera quality, but it can't use a microphone, which I'll get to later. I'm not a gamer, so I didn't test its gaming abilities, but everything I've done with it (YouTube videos, live streaming on ESPN+, Peacock and YouTube TV, general web browsing, and various Android apps for news and sports ) is well done. The screen resolution (FHD) is very good for this price range, but not as good as the Galaxy Tab S5e's AMOLED screen, but that's to be expected. The sound quality isn't as outstanding as the Samsung S series, but it's good enough for YouTube and live TV and much better than the Hipad X. Build quality is okay, but not outstanding. There is occasional squeaking when pressing the corners of the screen, as if the tablet's interior isn't quite flush with the case. The front camera is suitable for video conferences when there is sufficient light, and the rear camera takes good pictures. The rear camera is definitely not a substitute for a good camera in a decent big brand phone, but both the front and rear cameras are much better than the Chuwi Hipad X. The most amazing thing is that there is no microphone hole though the device it has. . So if you try to record audio, for example when you are holding a video conference, you will find that the volume is so low that it cannot be used. However, I was able to talk to Google Assistant and it worked in my quiet environment. However, this is a big oversight on the part of Teclast, it was difficult and pointless to contact the technical support team for clarification. If you need this feature, be sure to use a headset. All in all, if you can live with a terrible microphone situation, this is a good tablet if saving money is a priority. It did everything I tried just as well as the Galaxy Tab S5e and even better than the Hipad X. I have no problem recommending the tablet other than the microphone issue.
