Very FAST and RELIABLE!

This product corresponds exactly to the description. I bought this writable CD in December 2000. I didn't want to write a review on it until I did the necessary testing. Honestly, you can write data in about 5 minutes or less. I use Fuji 16X compatible CDs and they all work fine. Audio CDs are ripped very quickly, but you have to download their software from the internet. So far, you can backup all data files including MP3 files within 5 minutes. The drive is not perfect. The 8MB buffer did an excellent job of minimizing or eliminating most buffer underruns. I have made over 200 CDs, of which 2 CDs have become coasters. The booth was created by burning MP3s in audio format at 16x speed. Works fine on 8x. I tested it at 12X and it didn't work, so I didn't try burning a CD. The wave from files to audio files even succeeded at 12-16X. Another booth came up when I was trying to make a copy of a CD. Didn't work at 16x. 4-8X works well. That's probably because my CD drive reads 20x or 24x. I don't know exactly why, but it works, but at a lower speed for this type of burn. You'll probably be better off with a SCSI drive if you want to rip from CD to CD since it's not as CPU intensive as IDE, otherwise you could save some money and get it almost $100 cheaper. Installation was easy. I would advise you to also download the latest firmware if it is not already installed on your drive. I have a Pentium 2/350 with 512MB RAM. I have owned and tried several other CD burners and this is by far the most reliable and fastest unit I have seen. (HP, Ricoh, Plextor (no flame retardants), etc.) I have to give it 5 stars because it saves time burning CDs and creates very few coasters.
