Review on ๐Ÿ›น Triple Eight KP 22 Heavy-Duty Skateboarding Knee Pads: Optimal Protection for Skateboarders (Pair) by Eddie Burgess

Revainrating 4 out of 5

If you have meaty legs, choose your size carefully!

My legs aren't skinny or logs, but these knee pads seem to fall into the Asian size category. I measured the circumference of the knees in the middle of the kneecaps, both straight and slightly bent, it was 15.75" (40 cm), so I ordered MEDIUM. (14.5"-16" according to the manufacturer's size chart further on their website as well as the chart shown in the product images) ) Medium was too small for my legs but mostly because of my hips.*My hips when measured about 4 fingers (3 inches) above the top of the patella , are 18.5" in circumference. The measurements would be just perfect if it weren't for the very short Velcro straps that connect behind your legs. The straps would be "almost long enough" but the lugs. Yes No. Without those tabs connecting behind my legs, I'd have to hold onto them with one hand while trying to fasten my seat belt with the other. While this isn't the hardest part, it can make them feel extremely uncomfortable and not stay in place as they otherwise would have. Oh yes, I g will say that the straps are "long enough" were because this entire fitting was done in shorts. I plan on wearing them over jeans or similar pants. in electric skateboarding. While I probably should have ordered a size up, I don't think it would have mattered (for me) as my feet are those of an avid cyclist and someone who is quite athletic to begin with. Based on comments from other reviewers online, for those with more muscular/fleshy legs (like me) the size increase doesn't matter as those velcro straps just aren't long enough to connect. everything else would increase in size, but the flaps and straps do not increase or increase in size like the rest of the lining material. Speaking of materials and build quality. I have to say they are pretty good for the price or not even for the price just in general! The stitching was solid, the materials were impeccable, the plastic is thick enough to hold a lot of wipes, the padding is good enough to absorb some serious impact, everything about them feels like great knee pads! To sum it up, the ONLY issue I have with these knee pads is that their sizing is wobbly and doesn't seem to be designed for those with bigger/fatter legs. I will come back for a refund and try another brand. I'll probably have to try a few different brands and sizes to find the right ones that actually fit.
