Easy to install, excellent performance.

I installed this reverse osmosis system today and it took about 1 hour including cleaning the bottom of the kitchen sink. Over the years I have installed many reverse osmosis systems for family, friends, new builds and renovations. I don't like installing them under kitchen sinks as a leak can damage the cabinet and subfloor. It's also more difficult to access and change filters, as well as perform regular checks. However, this compact and unique system changes my mind about not having them in base cabinets. I think this one was designed for that and works well. The included 1/4" hose should be long enough to allow the filter to be pulled out of the cabinet and placed on the floor to replace the filter. This was in the 36 inch base cabinet that I installed this review unit in. The instructions are provided with many photos and diagrams and are written in understandable English. The installation video on this list is also worth watching as it is very informative and prepared me enough that I didn't even need a guide. I also looked at the recommended amount of water to run through the new system to flush it out before use. It is recommended to completely empty 3-4 reservoirs first. This equates to 6-8 gallons. I ran the system with the faucet open on initial startup until about 2 gallons were produced. I then filled the storage tank once and then emptied it completely. Sediment, activated carbon and reverse osmosis filters are flushed directly from the tap and not into the storage tank. The reservoir is then flushed and emptied during filling. After this pause time, the water became crystal clear, with no micro-bubbles or turbidity. After changing the filters I will most likely close the storage tank valve and then run 2 gallons of water through the new filters. Then I turned the tank back on and let it drain completely and refill once. I like draining the water from the storage tank regularly to keep it fresh. It is recommended to replace the sediment/charcoal filter every 6-8 months depending on the quality of the source water. It is recommended to change RO every 1-2 years. It is recommended to replace the last granular activated carbon filter every 6-12 months. Most likely I will change the sediment/carbon filter every 6 months, the reverse osmosis membrane after 1 year and the post filter after 1 year. That would mean that I would have to order and stock 2 pre-filters, 1 RO and 1 post per year. That adds up to about $130 a year. I think this system is enough to work in a family of 4-6 people. I would also recommend getting an ice making kit and running reverse osmosis water in the fridge. This way you will have cold filtered water and ice if your fridge has these features. I love this new design. The advantage is space saving and easy filter change. This reduces water spillage when the filters are connected as the cap is on top of the filter rather than unscrewing water cans with the filter inside and pouring them down the sink. This construction also has the advantage that the base cabinet does not require a power connection like many other new reverse osmosis systems that have a pump. If you have an outlet or can install one, you should consider such a system. Their advantage is that they produce filtered water faster and do not require a storage tank. They allow you to produce unlimited, full-flow filtered water without the 2-gallon storage tank limitation of this system. Once you empty the water storage tank, the filter creates a slow flow that takes about 5 minutes to fill an 8 ounce glass. This system is equipped with a Frizzlife TD-3 post-filter. You might want to consider the TD-9 post-filter, which includes remineralization in addition to carbon. I think not only is it worth raising the pH of reverse osmosis water from acidic to alkaline, but it seems to improve the taste for most people. Instead, Frizzlife offers another RO-K3 system with this filter. I would visit the Frizzlife store on Revain to see different models. In general, I like this system. I think this is perfect for most residential buildings. The dosing tap is of good quality, as are all the components. 5 Stars.
