I have a 4 year old GEM-20, gets bored, switches off too quickly. Oh, and I had to glue an o-ring to the small panel to keep it from touching the edge of the curved platform. And STILL that $16 scale went through that "premium" scale. This scale is great. The shutdown function is great. But it's unstable. It never stays at zero even after long stabilization. It reads completely different values in the last digit and often in the next digit. I've tried recalibrating many times (using GEM-20 calibration weights because one of the calibration weights broke). .[LATER] After that the scales were in the box. I checked again 2 weeks later. The device is highly stabilized. From the looks of it, shipping is hitting the balls pretty hard. Now it's usable and it's ok, a bit ok for $30. I am changing my rating from 1 to 4 stars. Recommendation: put the batteries in, sing her a lullaby, put it in a fun place with no earthquakes and discos, and in a week or two she'll be feeling a lot better. If it's still unstable, send it to another location.
