Self assembled. I am a woman and I am 68 years old. There is quite a bit of detail including all the screws, washers, spacers. This is because they offer you many additional options to accommodate different brands of TVs that require different sizes. This startled my husband when he got home and saw that there were extra parts left, he was afraid to touch the TV or stand. Took me about 3 hours to assemble but I'm sure someone younger and more confident in their abilities will be able to put it together quicker. I constantly checked myself in the instructions and my work. I hooked up a 55 inch TV. I like the TV with a center stand and the ability to adjust the height higher than the original legs that came with the kit. Love the ability to pivot so viewing around the room is a lot better! While it looks very solid, it looks beautiful.
