After having to pick up scraps of food in my food dehydrator that had fallen through regular trays I bought these nets which have an almost mesh like surface to keep food in place. The holes in the grates are large enough to allow air to circulate but small enough to prevent onions, celery and other small pieces from falling onto the lower trays. I hand wash them (they're plastic) and just keep them on trays in the dehydrator. They fit most round dehydrators and hold more small items. Try it.
