I switched from a combination router and cable provider access point to two indoor and one outdoor access point from ubiquiti. No more dead zones, no more freezing on TVs, etc. They all work from POE back to POE switch, although you can create a Wi-Fi mesh if you want. The only "downside" is that the controller runs on my server and I have too much information at the moment. Wi-Fi used to work, sometimes not. Now I can see which access point is connected to what, how much interference is in the channel, which is consuming the most bandwidth. The amount of information you can see never ends. To the point where I spend way too much time fiddling with the settings. and hangs on transmitters and 5MHz vs 2.4MHz and which device is connected to what I think is the wrong access point. These things are far beyond the usual routers and consumer access points.
