Review on LG 34UM88C-P 34 Inch UltraWide 3440X1440P Monitor with Screen Split 2.0, OnScreen Control, Flicker Safe, AMD FreeSync™ Technology by Praveen Kumar

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great monitor in every way.

Bought this monitor from Revain a week ago for $572. I also got an EVGA 1060 SC graphics card to take advantage of the monitor's native 1440 x 3340 resolution and display port connection (DP cable included with LG). This is the flat (not curved) version I wanted because I use it for business, graphic design, and Photoshop. Aside from the excellent display, the biggest surprises were the stand and the sound quality. The stand (inside) is made of very heavy die-cast metal. It's heavier than the stand that came with my 55 inch TV. Fully adjustable height and incline. In terms of sound, most monitors have a weak, tinny sound. This LG has a very nice sound (don't forget to enable the bass in the menu). won't replace your living room stereo, but don't waste your money on external PC speakers until you try it. Much less time spent resizing and repositioning windows, and Photoshop is very comfortable to use on this monitor. Word Documents - View 2 full size pages side by side without reducing text size. MS Excel - 42 columns x 45 rows without reducing text or cell size. Tip: On a PC, hold down the Ctrl key when closing an application window to ensure it reopens at the size you left. I set up my regular apps to open at the perfect size. I'm not a gamer so can't comment on the games but the videos are awesome. The screen brightness is set to 100. Since a lot of photons get into the eyes, I lowered them to 70. However, the menu also has preset options that set the optimal brightness for different activities: reading, gaming, photo editing, etc. My only nitpick: I wish it had 3 or 4 USB ports instead of 2. Overall, the LG 34UM88C-P a great monitor.
