Review on 🐕 Safety Technology International, Inc. ED-50 Rex Plus Electronic Watchdog: Powerful Barking Dog Alarm for Enhanced Security by John Jones

Amazing sound and volume

Incredibly lifelike sound. Rex is everything the information says. When you plug it in, it takes about 30 seconds and it's ready to use. It barks like a German shepherd and is so loud it scares people who have just left our parking lot and are running towards the front of the house. It has a fairly wide coverage area. Not sure what it will be because I wrapped it in a gallon sized ziplock bag and hooked it up to our covered deck. So far with the bag he had endured the light snow blowing onto the deck and the rain doing the same. I put him in a corner where a plastic container blocks part of his range. But you can still hear it loud and clear. And he barks if you walk next to him in the house. I have two Rex and one is kept in a house in Tanzania with a porch view. Rex is good at barking when someone comes onto the porch, but is much better at dealing with wind and people walking around the house. I also have a Rex II that needs C batteries (4 I think). I also use it in the rear window facing the backyard. I'm not sure yet what that value is because I haven't tried it yet. My criticism is exactly this. If Rex can be used with batteries, why can't Rex be waterproofed and placed in a gazebo or small outdoor structure? It's awesome and noisy and the thief could be caught very early or chased away if he could hide outside. Otherwise, I'm all for that annoying but noisy dog. And of course there are advantages to not having to walk him, clean up, vaccinate him or feed him. (I'm just having fun).

Pros
  • Place it anywhere in the room you want to detect motion
Cons
  • Boring packaging
