Review on Shop Fox W1745 6-Inch Jointer With Built-In Mobile Base by Dustin Wheeler

I have used a Craftsman jointer for 40 years and it was time for an upgrade. My wife found the best deal on Best Buy on the jointer I wanted, the shop fox 1745.It arrived as scheduled. I had a friend help me because of the weight. I carefully read the directions (older and wiser now) and we assembled the unit. The manual that came with it was easy to follow, it was actually very impressively written. It is easy to adjust the knives, as it gives you two options. You can use the springs or screws. They also give you an alignment tool. I have used it quite a bit since I received it, and have to say I am very impressed. I only work with hardwoods, Oak, Walnut and Cherry. I have used it to join 3" walnut and it didn't skip a beat. It is a great value for the money. My advice would be to have a friend help you, take your time and have a full roll of paper towels to clean off all the grease. Not a speck of rust. It purrs like a kitten, love it! I am very picky and a perfectionist.
