Review on 🚲 Capstone 2 Bike Carrier Hitch Mount by George Miller

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Best stand I've ever had

I would give 5 stars barring two small but annoying issues. But first for the good. I bought to take my Quiet Kat FatKat bike with me. It weighs around 70 pounds and I was a bit apprehensive about finding a bike rack that could support its weight and 4.5-inch tires. Benefits1. This is an amazingly strong bike rack. Not only is it solid due to the receiver mounting screw, but also just very well made.2. It is very well designed with foldable tire platforms and various sliding components, allowing this rack to fit almost any bike. The locking handles are a big plus so you can stay calm while traveling. Now I don't have to lock the cable on my bike when traveling and worry about the cable or lock rubbing against my bike or car. The well thought-out design is great, with which the rack can tip over or fold to the side. Disadvantages1. This rack is marketed as a "fat tire" bike rack. And while much of the design supports that, the yellow Velcro straps they offer are a missing component. They are too short for my fat 4.5 inch tires. I'm not even sure if they fit small 3" or 3.5" tires. I need to find something to replace these straps.2. This is a common complaint from other reviews. The anti-tilt receiver mounting design works well, but you will need a wrench to remove the rack. It would be nice to use another solid bolt with a handle here.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others
