Review on ViewSonic VX2457-MHD Gaming Monitor - FreeSync, 1920X1080P, 75Hz, Flicker-Free by Manuel Foreman

Good choice for the price

The quality is good, the picture looks very nice. Freesync works as advertised, the difference is noticeable but not huge. One with a wider clock range (like up to 120Hz or 144Hz) would be better for gamers on a bigger budget, and they want a big difference. The target of this is the gamer on a budget who wants a bit more to get nice functionality (smoother screen action) but without spending a lot of money. It hits the target. The size is also good for small spaces. If you want to get this, make sure you have a compatible graphics card (budget or mid-range gaming card) and cable. DisplayPort is required for Freesync, make sure your graphics card supports this monitor. Can some other monitors Freesync over HDMI if the card supports it? In general, assume DisplayPort. In any case, note that the monitor alone will not activate Freesync. If you notice this, you can also look for monitors that support Low Frame Rate Compensation (LFC), which is part of Freesync 2 and offers even more benefits. Should you see this spring/summer 2017? Probably along with HDR support. Again, it will likely cost a bit more for these features. But for the money this monitor was a good deal and it works flawlessly. UPDATE: The stand is pretty wobbly. If you don't intend to move it and are standing on a heavy, stable table, no problem, but if the table bangs and wobbles slightly, then the monitor will shake a lot.

Pros
  • no flicker
Cons
  • The monitor buttons are too tight.
