Not compatible with some modern mesh routers

I install part-time residential home automation systems. Most setups use Alexa/Google for automation, but the latest was an exclusive Apple Homekit setup. If you also want to jump on the Homekit bandwagon and think these Meross sockets are the cheapest option, read on. First, setting up the Meross socket and bulbs was a more complex process than competitors like Feit and Philips. Some devices initially experienced a setup error requiring a reset (may take 3-10 minutes each time). After several unsuccessful attempts, all Meross devices worked. After 12 hours, the Home app showed "No Response" for one of the outlets. Resetting iCloud, phone, hub, etc. did not solve the problem. The outlet used to work great, but not anymore. In the router settings we could see that the device was still connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network, so something was very suspicious. We have performed a clean reset of all devices at this point. Then 12 hours later another Meross branch stopped working! After a few days of restarting the device, user testing, and searching the forums, we figured out the issue. The customer used a NETGEAR Orbi mesh router system that uses the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and uses the same network name (SSID) for both bands. Since Meross devices work exclusively on 2.4 GHz networks, they are "baffled" when they see a 5 GHz network of the same name. We spent a week experimenting with different router settings to keep devices in the 2.4GHz band, to no avail. Also, don't bother looking for solutions to root your router and set a different SSID - you will mess up your router settings, which will also require resetting your router! If you have a Netgear Orbi router, Meross Homekit approved products are a win. that does not work. I ended up getting a new, high-performance replacement mesh router for the customer, which allows you to configure separate SSIDs for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Viola - No problems with all Meross devices in the last few days. While these Meross devices technically work as intended, I have to give 1 star because all of the competing lights (Feit, Voc, Nanoleaf, Philips, Sylvania) don't have this issue and can work seamlessly on single SSID mesh networks. . These bulbs should work fine in all modern WiFi settings, and if not, the manufacturer should step out where possible to point out the incompatibility.
