Nowhere is it told you that where the plank enters the part you screw into the wall, the plank is open and not seamless. So if you use it in the shower, the water gets into that area and then has to drain away somehow. I'm sure the screws will rust. How is it not seamless? Just to clarify since it's hard to explain: the beam curves into vessels at each end. There is an open connection. So you have a problem with water retention. I bought 6 pieces to take with me for installation in Europe. Now I'm attached to them!
