Kinda well designed. The eyelets that the Velcro straps go through on the other side of the shoe are metal, which my husband says is built for durability. The upper eyelets interfered with the top of his foot. He cut out some sticky pieces of foam to cover the steel grommets. Maybe it's his legs, who knows. But he doesn't like messing with his shoelaces anymore.
