We have a favorite Kirby Avalir. The only issue we had was that vacuum cleaner wooden brushes tend to pick up dirt and pet hair from the carpet and turn it into a sticky film on the brush. For some reason this doesn't happen with plastic brushes. I've taken our Avalir roller off a couple of times and like to hand wash it then let it dry for a couple of days. I didn't have any luck with Kirby back then. Thought I'd buy a replacement brush roll just to be on the safe side. I chose the model with animal hair. The pet hair brush is advertised as antimicrobial and features white bristles. The model I received was identical in model number BUT did not have white brushes. There was also no mention of antimicrobial properties, but that wasn't a selling point for me. The distribution of brushes on the roller is actually smaller than that of a traditional Kirby roller. I agree and in fact I find it maintains the carpet better than the original brush roller as we have a very deep frieze carpet. Carpet. I've checked the bag several times since installing it and it seems to fill up faster. I don't know if that's a side effect of the new brushroll or if it's just spring with 8 dogs in the house. Overall we are satisfied and I find it very handy to have an extra role to switch between them. I would recommend; However, if aesthetics or antimicrobial protection is the seller for you, contact Kirby and make sure whoever is sending in Revain actually has it.
