My son is a YouTuber. He's not a pro or famous but he's still working hard to record his Fortnite videos and save them to YouTube. But sometimes he wants to edit videos and also play other games like Geometry Dash. We have a pretty solid computer with an Nvidia 1070 graphics card, but sometimes it's too difficult for the computer to display a game at 3440x1440 (it has a widescreen monitor) and record and save it. Our solution (instead of spending $1,500 to upgrade his graphics card) was to get this HDMI to USB-C video capture device from StarTech.com for under $200 and let the computer, on which he plays the game and send it to a cheaper laptop instead. We use the manufacturer's recommended OBS software and I haven't had any setup issues so far. My experience with StarTech.com and some of their products was generally better. We rarely have problems and we have good experiences with their technical support. The video quality of his recordings has improved a lot now because his gaming PC doesn't have to play AND record the game at the same time - for some reason especially with Geometry Dash - which used to give us a lot of problems. I recommend StarTech gear in general and this HDMI USB-C video capture device in particular. My experience with the company and its products has been excellent and very enriching.
