Review on ๐Ÿ’‡ ARQQ Smooth Pattern Elimination Clipper by Bim Cook

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My Tevo Little Monster prints no longer have the salmon skin pattern!

I bought these to see if they would help the "salmon skin" pattern on my Tevo Little Monster (Delta) prints remove. They did just that, so five stars. [next paragraph edited to correct error.] One problem and one caveat: one of the supplied extension cords was plugged in in reverse order according to the plug keying. It was not difficult to fix the order, everything worked fine. If you buy this board (or any other) check the cables carefully as I understand that wrong connection is not uncommon and can sometimes cause problems. Warning: These boards get very hot. Very hot - around 80-90ยฐC with engines running, not just when printing. That's fine from what I've read, but you might want to reconsider where you put them. I decided to mount mine near the motors so they don't heat up the Tevo LM control box. Besides, it's already pretty full. Remember that there are two versions of the "TL Smoother" boards. The other has one pair of diodes per drive line, so a total of 4 diodes on the board. There are some guidelines on the internet for using two of these 4 diode boards (in series) per stepper motor to maximize the smoothing effect on the stepper motor drive lines. This board (two pairs of diodes per drive line, total 8 diodes on the board) does the same as two 4-diode series boards, but on one board per stepper motor drive line. Any arrangement will work and a 4 diode board can fix the situation. The Tevo LM has really strong salmon skin artifacts so I went with this board and am very happy with the results.

Pros
  • Also protected from inductive voltage when the driver is off
Cons
  • Requires a power outlet
